Why using blogs?

I have created a blog because I think it is a useful tool to promote learners’ autonomy and to communicate with them outside lesson time.  Apart from this, technology is highly motivating to our students nowadays, so these types of tools are likely to enhance their learning.
Students can display their creativity and share it with others as well as send  and  receive feedback on their productions.  So it also involves collaborative learning and knowledge construction.  As Godwin-Jones (2006) states: “it is possible to create a more student-centred learning environment using blogs, particularly if students create blogs that they control and whose content they own” (p. 4).
Weblogs are just one of the web 2.0 tools which have changed the way people communicate and network.  Though they are still in their infancy as regards language teaching, “they are gaining acceptance slowly and unevenly, like all innovations” (Warschauer, 1996, p. 3).
